Terms and Conditions for Chefs

Thank you for joining GrabChef as an independent chef. These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of our platform and outline your rights, responsibilities, and obligations. By signing up as a chef on GrabChef, you agree to comply with these Terms. Please read them carefully.
Eligibility
1.1 Age Requirement: You must be at least 20 years old to register as a chef on GrabChef.
1.2 Independent Status: You acknowledge that you are an independent contractor, not an employee, agent, or representative of GrabChef. You are solely responsible for managing your services, including scheduling, menu preparation, and customer interactions.
1.3 Experience and Qualification: By registering, you confirm that you have the necessary culinary skills, experience, and certifications (if applicable) to provide quality services to customers.
Chef Responsibilities
2.1 Service Delivery: You are solely responsible for providing customers with the cooking services they have agreed to, as per the booking details and agreed-upon discussions.
2.2 Kitchen and Ingredients: Customers will provide the ingredients, kitchen, and basic equipment. You must communicate any specific requirements with the customer via the app’s chat feature. If additional equipment is needed, you are responsible for bringing what you can reasonably carry or ensuring that the customer has what is required.
2.3 Professional Conduct: You must behave professionally at all times when interacting with customers and using the platform. Abusive, offensive, or unprofessional conduct is strictly prohibited. You are also not allowed to express unethical values, use language that may upset the customer, or discuss religion. Interaction with customers must remain strictly professional and related to the work.
2.4 Uniform: You are required to represent GrabChef by wearing a shirt and apron during service. These were issued to you upon registration.
2.5 Safety: While you are responsible for your own safety at the customer’s premises, GrabChef will help by spreading awareness, educating customers about safety protocols, and providing an emergency dial button in the app.
2.6 Chatbox Usage: The chatbox feature is for professional communication only. You are not allowed to:
- Share personal contact details such as phone numbers, email addresses, or social media handles.
- Exchange inappropriate or irrelevant images or messages.
- Engage in any form of harassment or discrimination.
- Discuss anything beyond dietary requirements, allergen details, or matters strictly related to the work.
Violation of these guidelines may result in suspension or termination of your account.
2.7 Training and Compliance: You must complete the mandatory training program and pass the associated quizzes before gaining access to the platform. Additional training checks may be required periodically. Compliance with food safety and hygiene protocols is mandatory. Complaints regarding hygiene, safety violations, or professional behavior will be taken seriously and could result in suspension or termination.
2.8 Punctuality: You are required to be punctual for all bookings. Repeated lateness may lead to penalties or account suspension.
2.9 Dietary and Allergen Communication: You must communicate with the customer regarding any dietary restrictions or allergen-related concerns. Any negligence in this regard will be taken seriously.
2.10 Sign-Up Fee: A one-time, non-refundable sign-up fee is required upon registration. This fee includes access to the platform and the provision of your GrabChef uniform and gear. Only the first 20 chefs who register during the launch will be exempt from this fee.
2.11 Preparation and Equipment: You are responsible for bringing any additional equipment you may need that can be easily carried. If the customer does not have the necessary equipment, you must communicate this in advance through the app.
2.12 Knowledge of Terms and Training: You must thoroughly review all documents, training programs, and quizzes provided to understand your responsibilities fully.
Payments and Commissions
3.1 Commission: GrabChef deducts a 25% commission from the total service fee, paid by the customer as an advance through the app.
3.2 Customer Payments: The remaining 75% of the service fee is paid directly to you by the customer on the day of the service. This can be in cash or via bank transfer.
3.3 Tax Responsibilities: You are solely responsible for reporting and paying any taxes applicable to the income you earn through GrabChef.
3.4 Payment Disputes: In case of payment disputes, GrabChef will assist in resolving the issue but is not liable for any unpaid amounts by the customer.
3.5 Pricing and Service Fee: Grabchef reserves the right to determine the pricing structure and service fee applicable to you based on your designation as a junior or senior chef. Your designation will be assigned based on your certifications, licenses, qualifications, CV, references, and work.
Cancellations
If the customer cancels the service in less than 3 hours their advance payment will not be refunded and will be used to accommodate you. If you cancel last minute, an additional commission will be deducted from your next order. You must only cancel a booking at least 12 hours before the event starts.
Frequent cancellations or negative reviews will impact your visibility on the platform. Your account may be placed on hold until our team reviews your performance. Repeated bad reviews will result in an increased commission rate taken by Grabchf or suspension from the platform.
Account and Profile
4.1 Accuracy of Information: All information provided during registration and on your profile must be accurate and up-to-date. This includes your name, culinary experience, and cuisine specialties.
4.2 Profile Updates: You can update your profile information at any time. However, any misleading or false information may result in account suspension.
4.3 Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. Notify GrabChef immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
Prohibited Activities
You agree not to:
- Use the platform for any unlawful purposes.
- Misuse the chatbox for sharing personal information or engaging in inappropriate behavior.
- Attempt to circumvent GrabChef’s commission structure by arranging direct bookings outside the platform.
- Engage in any activity that could harm the reputation or operations of GrabChef.
- Fail to adhere to food safety and hygiene protocols.
- Bring religion into discussions or interactions with customers.
Intellectual Property
6.1 Platform Ownership: GrabChef retains all intellectual property rights to the app, website, logos, and marketing materials. You may not use or reproduce GrabChef’s intellectual property without prior written consent.
6.2 Profile Content: Any content you upload to your profile, such as images or descriptions, must be your original work or properly licensed. You grant GrabChef a license to use this content for promotional purposes.
Termination
7.1 Voluntary Termination: You may deactivate your account at any time by contacting GrabChef support.
7.2 Termination by GrabChef: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or engage in activities detrimental to the platform or its users.
Dispute Resolution
8.1 Customer Complaints: In case of a customer complaint, GrabChef will mediate to resolve the issue. However, you are ultimately responsible for addressing service-related complaints.
8.2 Platform Disputes: Any disputes related to your use of the platform shall be governed by the laws of Pakistan and resolved following applicable dispute resolution procedures.
Limitation of Liability
GrabChef is not liable for:
- Any damages arising from your interactions with customers.
- Loss of income due to technical issues or platform unavailability.
- Any disputes or accidents occurring during service delivery.
Amendments
GrabChef reserves the right to update or amend these Terms at any time. You will be notified of significant changes via email or app notifications. Continued use of the platform after updates signifies your acceptance of the revised Terms.
